With TextMagic you can send and receive text messages from your email account to mobile phones, without needing to install any software. Email to SMS supports any email service or email server without any limits.
It’s incredibly easy to integrate our Email to SMS into your existing business and back-office applications since most applications can send email. It provides a simple way to enable your application/custom software to send text messages.
How to send an email to any mobile phone?
To send a text message, address an email to the mobile phone number like so:
Subject: [leave blank - no subject line necessary]
Hi. Do you want to meet after work? Sarah
The mobile then receives a normal text message, to which they can then reply using a text message.
Reply text messages are in turn forwarded to your email account:
Subject: Text message from 447971001234
Hey. I got your message. What time do you want to meet?
To send to a group of people, include all their numbers:
Subject: [leave blank - no subject line necessary]
Hi. Did you get the memo about the TPS reports? From Bill
Tips for addressing your Email to SMS message
- For example: 447971001234@textmagic.com (the UK is 44)
- In general:
- There is no need to put a "+" at the start of the number (though you can if you want).
- Ensure the number contains no dashes, spaces, or other punctuation, as otherwise your message will be ignored.
Send and receive your text messages via Email in just a few easy steps
Sending a text message:
- Address the email to the phone number, including the country code.
- Compose your message in the email body. Attachments and HTML tags are removed before sending as a text message.
- Common email signatures are removed, such as "This email is confidential..."
- Please remember that the email must come from you. Sign in to your account to manage these email addresses.
- Messages you send are "from" 447624800500. This is a UK phone number, which is used to forward replies back to your email address. You can change this number if you want replies to come back to your mobile phone instead.
- Optional password in the subject line. As an additional security check, you can specify a password to be used in Email to SMS.
Replying to a text message:
- SMS replies are forwarded to your email account.
- Subject and the email body both contain the full message.
- Replies are "from" the same email address you sent to, including the person's name if you included it, for example: "Dave Smith" <447971001234@textmagic.com>
- "Original Message" part of the reply is removed, as well as everything below it.

How long can the message be?TextMagic’s Email to SMS will send up to 3 text messages per email, which means that it is possible to send up to 459 characters. Anything over this will be shortened, and you will receive a warning by email. Please bear in mind that you are charged per text message, not per email message.
Can I share the account?Yes, you can register any number of email addresses to your account. You can send text messages from any registered email address. You can even register your company’s domain (@companyname.com) so that everyone can send messages, without the hassle of adding yet another address every time there’s a new hire. You can register emails here.
Sign in to your account to check your balance at any time. When your balance falls to 10% of your last purchase, you'll get a reminder by email.
How do I know if my message has been delivered?You can view the sent messages log online and check the delivery status of all text messages you have sent. If for some reason, we cannot deliver your message we'll send you a report via email.
