One Media is the publisher of One Magazine, a free monthly publication hand-delivered to homes across Devon. Operating in one of England’s most scenic regions, One Magazine blends local charm with smart advertising reach. Bruce Hetherington, alongside Editor in Chief Jake Tucker, lead the team at One Media, keeping all aspects of the business (from editorial to delivery) running like clockwork.
With a unique delivery model relying on hundreds of teenage distributors and their families, Bruce needed a communication solution that could handle the volume without missing a beat.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, One Media had to temporarily shift to Royal Mail for deliveries. Once restrictions were lifted, it was time to rebuild the trusted youth-led delivery system that had always been central to their business approach.
In the UK, magazine delivery is often one of the first jobs a teenager can take on, making it an attractive option for local youth. However, this also meant One Media had to ensure clear, reliable communication with both the teenagers and their parents. When emails went unanswered and calls got missed, it became clear they needed a channel everyone trusted and responded to.
One Media began using a tech platform called Round Control to onboard and manage distributors. Conveniently, Round Control integrated directly with Textmagic, which allowed Bruce’s team to communicate with their entire network through SMS.
Setup was effortless. Importing contacts from Round Control took minutes, and the platform’s ease of use helped the whole team dive in.
