TextMe - We text urgent emails to your mobile
Think of it like TextMagic in reverse. Rather than using the web or e-mail to send text messages, we take your most urgent e-mails and send them as texts straight to your mobile phone.
This represents tremendous peace of mind for people whose jobs depend on staying on top of emergencies, but you use it to receive information on pretty much anything: stock prices, sports scores, birthday reminders, bank account balance reminders, server alerts, email forwarding, and more
How does it work?
We’ll give you a new email address, which is connected to your mobile phone number. All emails sent to this new address appear on your phone as texts. And by adding several phones you can actually build a comprehensive alert service.
Getting Started
First, just sign up for a TextMagic account and purchase a block of SMS credits. Then log in to your new or existing TextMagic account and find TextMe service under My Services tab and do the following:
- Simply list the mobile phone(s) for your new TextMe email and click "Save".
- You can add an unlimited number of mobile phone numbers.
- Then your new TextMe email address is created.
- You can now use your TextMe service to sign up for email alert/reminder services and all emails sent to your TextMe email will be instantly forwarded to the mobile phone(s) you listed. Simple!
Frequently Asked Questions about TextMe
Can I forward emails to my mobile phone 49xxxxxxxxxxxx?Yes, our system generates an email address and links it to your mobile phone number. Any email sent to this generated email address will be forwarded to your mobile.
Is there a cut-off size, after which emails are ignored?Yes. The maximum is 3 text messages worth, but you can further limit this to 1 or 2 text messages.
Can I filter who sends messages to my TextMe email?When you register for this service, our system generates an email address which you can give to your friends or register with some alerting service. All emails sent to this special email address will be forward to your mobile as a text message(s).
What is the difference between Email to SMS service and TextMe?Email to SMS lets you send and receive text messages via e-mail. TextMe lets you receive e-mail messages via text. Also, for someone to send you text messages using our Email to SMS service, the sender’s e-mail address must be first registered in our system. With TextMe, however, everybody can send emails to your TextMe email. Our system performs no filtering whatsoever
What can I do if I start receiving spam through my TextMe address?No worries! You can delete your old TextMe email address and generate a new one.
TextMe Features
- You can share your TextMe email with all kinds of alerting service. After you sign up with them TextMe will start sending you text alerts.
- Assign groups to TextMe service.You can even set up multiple recipients for your TextMe service. This is helpful if you need your alerting service to alert entire departments or groups of people with single email.
- Limit your spending. It is easy to set limits to the length of each TextMe message between 1-3 text message(s).
- TextMe means that you bear the cost of the text messages sent to your mobile phone. So it is effectively a way to reverse charge the cost of sending you a text message.
